Starline is about as good as it gets for handgun brass. I usually buy Lapua
for rifles.
I've used Starline brass for 10 years in .45 (Long) Colt from standard
loads to high pressures with never any problems. Same for .357 Magnum!
If you've used it for .454 Casull why now worry about .45 ACP??
# Any thoughts or opinions as to good or bad experiences. I have loaded
# the 454 casull with starline and have had great success. I am about to
# order 500 new 45 ACP cases and would like some feedback.

It's top notch brass, a little pricey. 45acp is fairly common and almost
never wears out from reloading, so range brass is a cheap option and you
can't beat the price.

I've been pleased with brass I've bought from Starline. Most recently
458 SOCOM and 445 Super Mag. I'll probably never buy any 45ACP brass.
I've already collected a lifetime supply from shooting factory ammo
I use it for .44 mag and .500 mag. It's excellent. It seems a bit thicker
than most, so if you load really full-case loads, your pressure might get a
bit high. Work up to those and you should be good.

I use Starline exclusively in my 1911 bullseye gun, can't beat it.

I have been using 9mmSuperComp and 7.62x25mmTokarev Starline brass.
I am shooting wimpy guns, and I am ok with that.

Some years back, I bought 500 Starline 44 magnum brass.
I was REALLLY disappointed! The case length variation was literally +/-
15 thousandths of an inch!
I called Starline, and they offered to replace the brass....from the
SAME LOT NUMBER of the brass.
AND, I would have had to pay shipping back to them.
It was a no-win situation, except for Starline!
I had to trim ALL the brass to the minimum SAAMI length, to get a
consistent crimp, and I had about 25 cases that were so short, I had to
trim them to 44 Special length, so they weren't a total loss.
You might not notice case length variation as much in semiauto brass,
but the bass I got really wasn't acceptable.
Perhaps I that lot was just a 'bad batch', but it SHOULDN'T have passed
QC.
The fact that it DID, and was SOLD to me, tell me a LOT about the way
Starline runs their company.
Now, When I need to buy brass, I buy Remington or Winchester.

I've bought Starline in .380, .38 spl, and .45 acp. 500 cases at a clip, I never had
problems but that was a long time ago.

As to current poster about case length, I'd rather initially trim to
consistent max length than to have to trim 10 or even 15 thou under
like with Rem or Win revolver brass. Bought a batch of Starline .32
mag brass, the guy warned me I'd have to trim. So one pass through
the trimmer and the stuff has lasted at least 10 loads with max
charges. Very accurate loads, too. Federal factory loads split end
to end on initial firing, kind of soured me on THEIR brass. Biggest
problem with Starline has been that all their distributors and they
themselves have been OOS for a lot of calibers for half a year or
better.

I've been very happy with the quality and price of the Starline brass that
I've purchased, but can also say I purchased it all about 10 years ago...
maybe things have changed? I hope not.
Good shooting,
