I use a master cable lock through the open action on mine.
Good-luck,
Bob

Marlin shipped one with my rifle. It is a long cable which feeds through
the barrel and has a lock which you install at the muzzle end. I feel
certain these must be mass produced by someone, so you ought to be able to
get one somewhere.

Regards,
Gregory.

Use nylon cable ties. You can get big bundles of
them cheap at home improvement stores. You should be
able to lock the lever and the hammer with them.
As long as you don't keep a round in the chamber, tying down
just the lever will prevent anyone from firing the gun.

My wife's Winchester 92 .44-40 came with a short Master cable lock. Wrap it
around the stock and through the lever a couple of times--prevents a round
from being chambered.

If you want that kind that could probably be opened with the right pair
of needle nose pliers (the "lock" is a disc with two holes in it), they
make a lever lock that would work. I've never seen one for locking the
lever down that uses a real lock. Of course, there are cable locks that
would work and they have normal locks built in.

I've been to several gun shops looking for lever locks and the only
store that has ever had them in stock is WalMart. And right now,
they're out at my local store. The kind with the non-key key is only
about $3 and the cable lock ones are about $8.

I do not like cable locks because I don't want a cable rubbing
the barrels of my guns. The lever lock mentioned in various posts
is made of plastic, easily cut off, and the no-lock lock can be
opened by any five year old with a toothpick. My current solution:
cut a plastic wrapped bicycle chain down to size to fit the stock
neck and lever. Use a good lock to secure the ends of the chain.
If you use an unwrapped chain, wrap it with electrical tape before
using it.

Good luck

Cable locks are usually plastic coated, and could goe through the action and
through the loading port, I would imagine, so you wouldn't have to go into the
barrel anyway. Or cable lock around the lever and stock. Haven't done it, but
it seems like it would work....MatQuig

I bought a new Marlin lever action .22 last year and it came with a through
the barrel cable lock. It's simple and effective.
