Hi,

Wasn't sure my original post went through...

What is the difference between the Hi Power Mark II and the Mark III? Is it
just the firing pin block?

Thanks, Tom

Got me,As far as I know,I kind of wondered the same thing but not sure
if it was a Browning or not.If you have a lll what happened to the
ll.For that matter how about Mark l. What I do know is HP35s or P35s or
High or Hi Power's are now or until they run out:

Mark III: Fixed sights. Matte blued finish. Two piece plastic molded
grips.

Standard: Fixed or adjustable sights. Polished blued finish. Walnut
grips.

HP-Practical: Fixed or adjustable sights. Matte blued slide, Chrome
frame. Pachmayr rubber grips.

Silver Chrome: Adjustable sights. Chrome plated (matte). Pachmayr rubber
grips.

Capitan: Adjustable tangent sights (old style). Polished blued finish.
Walnut grips.........

Seems like I have the standard,
You do Know when the supply is gone that's it for the High Powers. They
will still make other guns but the flag is down on the HP line.Sad day
for sure.
When I was interested in buying one a few years back I was amazed of
some prices I've seen on some older ones in good condition.May of been a
mark ll in the lot but I don't remember seeing one.
Now a Mark ll clone,I may of seen that....either way if you see an old
mint Browning in a pawn shop for a good price, snatch it up.I didn't see
as many at the last large gun show but plenty of clones.Sorry gun shop
owners but got mine at Sports Unlimited for $310.00...$100.00 + less,
and 2 mags,13ers...One shop here was selling them minus 1 mag. That's
cheating.I should of turned him in to the Honest Gun Shop Owners of
America Association if we had one. That gives all the good owners a shot
in the eye.I did call Browning but they blew me off.To be serious all
you gun shop owners should get together and organize.Your getting picked
off one at a time.Who could deal with regulations like Massachusetts
just passed on hand gun sales.
That's for another post for another time.

Are you sure about this? Could you quote a source? I read comments
opposite to this on the Hi-Power Forum.

Hey Lou, not about to dig thru a years worth of old gun rags looking for
4 or 5 article ( not that organized ) but a pretty decent thread ran on
the topic some time back out here on rec.guns .I'm sure someone will
read this and give you a date and article. If you noticed large gun shows
are pushing clones and CZs.Just a few HP35s in NIB.A few years ago they
were all over the place.Guess if you want a real in you face answer ask
your friendly gun shop keeper.Hey if I'm wrong I'm wrong,no bid
deal...but I don't think so. Browning will or by now has stopped or will
stop making the High Power., Now that I think of it,it was in an article
on S&W cutting a deal and it said Browning told Smith to f%#k off along
with others. Some place in it also mention Browning will stop making the
HP35 and a paragraph on Colt dropping almost all of their line.

Last I heard, Browning *continues* to deny that story.
