My friend has an IntraTec Tec-22. It's a fun gun, but it works about 10%
of the time. The main problems are double feeding, failure to eject,
failure to extract.

We have also tried using a HellFire with this gun, and it does not seem to
work either.

Any advice??

Good luck. My brother had a 9mm TEC and it was junk.
Never did work right and much tinkering failed to make
it any where near reliable. He finally gave up on it.
It finally self destructed and he didn't feel it was worth buying
parts and working on it anymore.

Advice? Get a better gun.
TEC makes jammamatics.

I would say take it to a good gunsmith, but I doubt that anyone worth his
fee would even bother looking at it.

I think it's ironic that the Crime Bill banned Tec-9s and Tec-22s, so the
teenage gang-bangers who Chuck Schumer was targeting will be forced to pony
up for (steal) more reliable firearms. Thanks, Chuck.

# I'll second that advice. I had a Tec-9 offered to me for $100. Took it to the range
# and test fired the thing. Spent more time clearing jams than I did shooting. After
# 2 mags I gave up and decided to stay away from anything with TEC on it.

Perhaps I did not make myself clear.

The TEC-22 will function reliably with Ram-Line magazines and Federal
#710 ammunition.

There is so much 9mm ammunition special made for SMG, Pistol, Parab etc.
getting a TEC-9 to operate can be a problem.

Yes, I would have to agree that the Tec-22 is a fun gun...when it
works. I'd discovered that mine will only work with Remington
Thunderbolts or the expensive CCI stingers. Any others will cause it
to jam 2 - 3 times every magazine.

Years ago bought 2 tec-22s, same problem. made all sorts of modifications to
one of them with no luck. One day I got brave and held it sideways port directly
facing me and pulled the trigger. Saw the bolt only travel a little over half way,
pick up another round and jam without ejecting. Tore the gun down and discovered
a spacer behind the spring in the buffer, removed it, test fired it and no more
jams. With the spacer in and the hottest ammo I could find it functioned moderately
good. That's all I know, hope it helps.
P.S. both of them cycled perfect -- any ammo, ruger 10-22 mags.

Had one years ago. Never got a full magazine through it without some kind of jam. Too bad, it seemed like a good idea.
