Hi I recently purchased a Walther P22 5 target for my girlfriend,
figured starting with a low caliber will be a good choice. I fired about
100 rounds with it and I was mussing some of my targets, now Im a pretty
good shot but missing that many was no joke. I checked the handgun and
found that the compensator in from of the barrel was loose and moving, I
tried tightening the screws but of no use its still moving. The other
problem I have is with the lever when moving from Safety to Fire the lie
pin jams the lever, I had to twice press the pin inside and switch the
lever to F. Does anybody has had similiar problems with a brand new P22.
I own H&K Match USP 9mm, completely satisfied with it.

Thanks for your time
Adam

Since you say you bought it brand new, it is a warranty issue. I have heard
mixed reviews on Walther's customer service, but that should be your next
contact. Give them a chance to make it right. For such obvious problems, I
have a hard time imagining they wouldn't fix it properly.

Yes the floating pin problem is common just need a replacement or a home
fix, for the loose barrel you need to remove the compensator part (not a
real compensator btw) and tighten the barrel nut on the end of the barrel,
but you need to remove the comp and replace it.

Any guys serious about target shooting usually remove or disable the
safety. The action is open any time they aren't actually shooting and
having the safety on accidentally will definitely ruin a rapid fire
string. I ended up removing the compensator from the High Standard I
used to use, it was either leading up or loosening up, any benefit I
got on rapid fire strings was canceled out by those problems. When it
loosened up, I'd get patterns instead of groups, when it leaded up,
groups would just gradually open up until I chipped out the
compensator. Leave it off would be my suggestion. You'd have to send
the gun back to get both problems fixed.

I have been warned not to overtighten that barrel nut, as it is rather
fragile....jmtcw

Thanks Walter, i will try to tighten the loose barrel and reattach the
comp.
BTW did u mean that I have to get a new compensator or just put the
old one back after tightening the barrel nut.

Did you mea that I have to get a new comp (covered under warranty) or

just put the old one back after tightening the barrel nut.
