My buddy just dug out of an old family trunk an obviously cheap pistol which
seems to be made of an alloy. The metal is too light and grey to be steel.
Anyway, it's a Herbert Schmidt, made in Germany, with EIG model E15 stamped
on it. OK, anybody heard of it or know anything about it other than it
seems to be a cheap, western style knockoff from overseas??

If you lubircate it with vegetable oil, you'll have a Schmidt and Wesson!

There were any number of newly manufactured cheap handguns coming into the
US until the 68 gun law prohibted most of them.
The RG and EIG's were among the most widely distributed. My brothere had an
RG-12 -- it shot loose after a couple of hundred rounds.
