Stainless steel, synthetic stock, should take a lot of abuse.

I prefer a tube feed design but you have to give up the stainless barrel and
action. I have lost a magazine and it's really frustrating. Maybe you're
more careful than I am ;-0

I cast my vote for the H&R NEF Sportster http://www.hr1871.com/Firearms/Rifles/sportster.asp

Hopefully that is better than their former 922 Magnum model. A friend
of mine has bought one of those, it seized after about 100 rounds
because of some plastic component inside the receiver that had
completely disintegrated.

I'd maybe look for a Ruger 1022, although the .22 WMR has been out of
production since 2006, so that one would probably have to be a used
one. I like the large market of aftermarket modification parts,
because the rifle is so easy to tinker on.

I second the vote. I don't own one in .22 magnum, but I cant kill my .
223Rem heavy barrel. It beats my AR15NM in the accuracy department,
hands down.
