Came across a pre-ban Mini-14 in like new or new condition. Full
factory S/S with folding walnut stock, bayonet lug, flash suppressor,
high capacity mags. What would be a reasonable value for this rifle?
Asking price is $1,000.00.

I hope you don't hurt anything laughing too hard. You can buy a nice bre-ban AR
for that kind of money. Pre-ban Minis (folders or GB-20s) go for around $650
here.

I hope the seller at least kisses you after screwing you like that.

I understand that its not your fault, but I just pressure flushed my
sinus cavities with Mt. Dew after reading that $1000.00 for a Mini-14.

Well, I suppose if the seller could get it...its worth a grand, but
most everybody else sells em for Seriously less than $500.

Your Mileage may vary.

The asking price may be $1000 but you shouldn't pay more than $450 if you
intend to buy this rifle. Unless you contact Ruger directly, don't believe
what you are told regarding the manufacture date of the rifle. If I'm not
mistaken this rifle is clearly considered to be an AW by the ATF. I suspect
that someone is trying to unload something that they feel is illegal and don't
want to be caught holding.

JR;

Here in NY (and the northeast in general) NIB stainless steel Ruger
Mini-14GB models sell for $1600 - $1800. Of course, if you don't have
a GB model the price is only in the $1000 - $1100 range.

Who are you trying to con? Are you trying to peddle your supply of Minis at
panic-prices? Thats better than double their value.
BYW, since I live in the midwest, I talked to my brother this morning to check
with him, since he does live in the NE... He'd never heard such baloney!

I have yet to see a factory folding mini 14 under 900.00. The stock alone
brings 200 to 300 plus for the factory stainless.
Where is here? I would sure like a factory folder if they are 650.

Guess I better start soliciting more business from the Northeast
customers. If they'll pay $1000 for a stainless Mini, I got some genuine
swamp land for sale down here. Wanna buy an Enfield for $1200? Shoot on,

Mick,

Neil Hoffman (gun...@ontarget-ny.com) was claiming stainless NIB GBs go for
$1600-1800 and that NIB SS Minis go for $1000-1100. Nothing was said about
'folders'.

I don't know about NIB GBs, but clean USED ones go for $650 here, a NIB
stainless Mini is under $500. Heck, if disreputable dealers in NY are trying
to scam folks, they can just buy a Mini from someone like KY Imports for around
$400 , have it shipped to any FFL and pay them a fee of approx $25 to do the
transfer.

Sounds like your describing a Mini-14GB which was never offered to the
public. Only law enforcement personel and differant agencies were allowed
to purchase these. Typically these in good condition can command very high
prices especially if they include original Ruger stamped high cap mags as
well. For that price one should expect original box, manual and at least a
couple mags.
Personally I wouldn't pay that much. $750 would be more what I'd be
willing to pay for a GB collectors piece. But I'd make sure it's a true GB
and not some pieced together rifle. I saw an early stainless Mini the
other day in .222rem that was priced at $2500 and it wasn't even a GB!!
Standard price on a SS Mini today, ranch or not, is around $440 new. Is
the folding stock, bayonet lug and flash hider worth that much to you? NOT
ME. I'd find a pre-ban rifle and add the accesories if that's what you
like, but I'd never pay $1000 unless I was looking for a collectors piece.

Just my thoughts,
Mike in Oregon

That has always been the offical line, but GBs show up pretty often. I know
I've said it here before: I don't know about NIB, but used SS in primo
condition, they go for $650 in SE MI.
