I found a source for Ranger Talon +P+ 127 gr loads, and am wondering
if they are OK to use in my Norinco 213 ("Tokarev"). Just plan to keep
on hand for self-defense, and never plan to use, but want to insure
that if I have to use someday, the gun won't blow up in my face. Do I
run any risk of this danger?

Thanks.

I wouldn't do it. First of all, make darn sure that your guns functions
with this ammo. My norinco 213 only likes ball ammo...95% of the time.
Hollow points don't work well at all in this gun. I would just go
purchase some Federal Personal Defense 9mm. It's a good design
Hydra-Shock bullet, it's low recoil, low muzzle flash, and if that can't
stop your assailant, neither can that Ranger stuff. It's also not +p
ammo and you shouldn't have to worry about the wear and tear on your
gun.

I know a lot of people who think that no matter what caliber they have,
it has to be +P+ maxed out IPSC major load, or something along those
lines. That thinking is just plain wrong. Use what will function in your
gun and concentrate more on shot placement.

I wouldn't chance it. Chinese metallurgy is somewhat spotty. There are
other inexpensive surplus 9mm pistols like the Astra 400 or 600 models
that would be able to withstand that abuse.

It is probably quite safe but reliability is a much bigger issue. I would
not trust any gun & ammo combination for self defense without shooting a
minimum of 50 rounds without any failures.

I wouldn't try it. These guns are not known for their quality. She just
might fly apart in your hands. You should practice with your self
defense ammo and I just don't think the Norinco would stand up to very
many +P+ rounds. However my HKP7M8 will handle them just fine. Would you
like to share your source for this ammo. Feel free to e-mail me
privately. I can keep a secret.

If you want a magnum why not buy one. Solves that.

Don't listen to these people. The Chinese milled all of their steel from solid block.
Mainly from old railroad ties. Chinese have been making metal for thousands of
years....anyone who says Chinese metal is pot metal garbage is not educated in com
block guns. The Chinese do one thing great and that is copy stuff. These guns were
designed initially to handle a 7.62x25mm Tokarev which is as hot as about a .357 mag
or light load .357 sig. Just make sure she will feed HP. Polish the feed ramp, and
if it doesn't look into cor-bon powerball 100g +P or Buffalo Bore Hard Cast +P.
That 5 inch barrel will fling that round to about 1500 fps or more.
