I have not seen the rifle, but my father is looking at a a Model 70
30'06-24'' barrel, 9x Weaver scope, hard case-but it is a 1976 model in
excellent condition. I know this gun does not possess the desirability
of a Pre'64, but I am wondering what the value would be.
Many thanks to all who
respond.

I don't know the value, but I thought at that point the model 70s being
manufactured in 30-06 calibre were all being made with 22" barrels. Are
you
sure it was made in 1976?

Assuming that the rifle is in good shape, clean bore etc, between $325 to
a high end of about $400. flk kk

I have the exact model 70 and they come in 24" bbls. I bought it new in 1977
and it has been a great shooter. Talk to a reputable gun dealer and he will
give you his professional opinion. Its all about the condition and accessories.
Mine is topped with a 3-9 Leopold. There is a site dedicated to post '64 70's
and you wont find many under $600 to $700 with scope.

They are worth whatever you can get for them. They tend to be valued
by region in the US..some places they are like gold..other places 94
Winchesters sell for more. Ive paid no more than 400 for most of the
ones Ive bought over the years and many were in the $150 range

Nice reliable arms..but no more special than any other..except to
people who keep Commemoratives under the bed.

If there is a Cabela's or Scheel's in your area, they will look at your
firearm and give it a free appraisal. You might also try these guys:

Interesting. Mostly, interesting how bad their search interface is,
and then you finally drill down to the gun you want and you get to
pay $3 to get a quote. I can see that the subscription might be
a good deal if you did much buying and selling (assuming the other
party was willing to pay attention to it).

Bookmarked for future reference. Thanks much for the pointer.
