I have recently acquired a Beretta .380 Model 85BB. In looking at several
aftermarket parts lists, I have been unable to decide exactly which parts are
available for my gun.
I've seen parts for a model 84, 85, 85F and 85F/86 but I haven't seen anything
listed specifically for an 85BB.
What I'm specifically looking for, at this time, are some of those soft black
rubber grips or the black checkered ones. I've talked to the lady at Pachmayr
and she said that they didn't make a grip for the Model 85BB. My local dealer
told me that the Pachmayr 84r grips would fit but I tried 'em and they
wouldn't fit perfectly so I took them back and got my money back.
Does anyone know about a black rubber grip for a Beretta model 85BB and where
I can get them?
What are the differences between the model 84, 85, 85F and 85BB? Does anybody
know where I can find information for each specific model? Beretta sent me an
instruction manual but it is for the 81 series and is not specific to any one
model and on the technical features and data page the model 85BB is not even
listed although the models 84F, 85F and several 8x models are.
Please point me in the right direction. All correct information will be
appreciated. Thanks.

Aftermarket is a tough one for the Cheetah series. I haven't seen much
more than holsters.

Yeah. The 85BB was a different model all right.

The 84 has a different grip, so I'm not surprised they wouldn't fit.

Haven't seen one.

# What are the differences between the model 84, 85, 85F and 85BB?

Ah, questions I can answer.

The 84 is a double-stack magazine .380, holding 13+1 rounds.

The 85 is a single-stack magazine .380, holding 8+1 rounds.

Modern versions of these have different actions, specifically the F is
the popular DA/SA configuration. I forget what the 'BB' configuration
was. I think it was an earlier edition of the 'F'.

http://www.beretta.it/international/cheetah.htm shows the current models.

The 85F and 85BB are sufficiently close to one another. My dad had a
84BB and it was similar enough to my 84F to share magazines and have
comparable parts.

Well here's a shot in the dark the older 84 and 85 series had rounded
trigger guards and frame mounted safeties ala Colt.
The 8x series were suffixed BW BP NW and NP the first letter designating
finish of the metal (B=blued N=nickel) the second designating grip panel
material(P=plastic W=wood) This is my experience with the Beretta .380's
never should have sold mine.

Pachmyr grips should be still available for the 85 as a rubber wrap-around
with backstrap insert.

You say that "The 8x series were suffixed BW BP NW and NP the first letter

designating finish of the metal (B=blued N=nickel) the second designating

grip panel material(P=plastic W=wood" This cannot be correct. My model 85BB
has the nickle finish and wood handles so that "BB" must stand for something
else.
Also, I called Pachymar and they told me that they do not make a grip for the
Beretta Model 85xx.
Thanx anyway for the response.
