I have a parts blowup of the Iver Johnson Trailsman TM22PB that appears to be
VERY close to the Colt Woodsman for which I do have disassembly instructions.

1. Check the chamber and magazine to make sure it's unloaded. Put the magazine
back in the gun.
2. Pull the slide back as far as it will go. Push down on the take down button just
ahead of the rear sight on the top, depress the slide stop, and push the
slide closed by hand since the recoil spring is now locked.
3. Remove the grips and push out the upper housing lock pin. This is a pin
near the curve at the top rear of the grip where the web of your hand
goes normally. Pull the trigger to release the hammer. Retract the slide
about 1/8" and then press inward and upward in the top of the back strap
and outwards (back) on the bottom of the back strap to remove it. The
slide will now come off. Remove the magazine at this point.
4. This is probably the same as on the Colt but I can't be sure from the parts
drawing: Grasp the end of the extractor with pliers and rotate it
180 degrees clockwise then pull it forward. Thread a grip screw into the firing
pin stop and pull it out. Remove the firing pin and spring through the
rear of the slide.
5. Press forward on the recoil spring guide on the under side of the slide. The take
down lock will disengage. Ease the recoil guide and spring out of the slide.
Lift the end of the take down lock lever up and turn the take down button 90
degrees. Work the take down lock lever forward out of its grooves.

Pay special attention to the way the slide lock, slide lock spring, and slide lock screw
go together. Assemble these three pieces together and reinstall as a unit. Colt says
to put the upper housing lock pin in and then "snap" the bottom of the back strap in
by pushing it firmly against a table and then reinstall the grips. The IJ may be
slightly different. It seems likely that the reverse of the disassembly proceedure, ie.
hook up the bottom of the back strap first and then insert the upper housing lock pin
should work but try it Colt's way if that doesn't seem to be working.

Good luck. :-)
