I'm assuming you mean the new lever action - it looks pretty nice. I
dunno about street price, Gunbroker has a couple for $420 "Buy it
Now".

BTW, here's a Mossberg Model 479 "1 of 5000" Roy Rogers super duper,
gold inlaid, pimped out special for $799. Tho why ANYONE would buy a
Roy Rogers commemorative anything is beyond me... There are zero bids
so far, wonder why?

55 years ago, Roy Rogers was an American hero with more fans than John
Wayne.

Bit of trivia. One of the Duke's first movies had him cast as a singing
cowboy. Not his strong point. LOL

Cowboys were not the only ones who sang. Before radio, armies sang.
The men would sing in the evenings to entertain themselves and build
morale. Mass communication put and end to a tradition of herdsmen and
soldiers that was thousands of years old.

Soldiers in some European countries (e.g., the Bundeswehr) sing as they
march, similar to the way American GIs often chant (call and response type)
while marching. I believe this tradition goes back all the way to the Roman
legions, maybe further. Same with the colors they carry. Cowboys (the
orginal ones) sang to calm their cattle, another tradition found among all
pastoral peoples. - CW
