Cabelas is offering a Uberti Millenium .45 Long Colt revolver for $220.
It looks good and I sure would like to have one, but the unbelievably
low price has me wondering what's wrong with this revolver or it's
manufacturer. Anyone know anything about this revolver or about Uberti?
Many thanks. George B.

Uberti makes, and has been making Colt SAA clones for a number of
years. Probably half of the Cowboy Action Shooters out there, myself
included, have one or more of their guns.
The Millennium is low priced mainly because it has a dull black
finish on the frame, barrel, and cylinder, instead of Color Case
Hardening or bluing, and the gripframe and trigger guard is unpolished
brass.
And before you ask, Italian steel isn't overly soft. It will do
anything you want it to.
If you want more info, go to the Cowboy Action Shooting web site
www.sassnet.com . There have been several discussions on the sass wire.

The above rantings are the opinions of the writer, (C.J.), and are
not necessarily in agreement with anything that anybody else thinks, or
would care to. Any resemblance to political correctness is purely
coincidental, entirely unintentional and probably your imagination.

I've seen and shot several and been really favorably impressed. The price
is apparently held down by minimal finishing. They seem to be fitted
together pretty well but have a fairly rough finish all over. Actions have
been surprisingly nice though.

%%%% I shoot a matched pair with consecutive serial numbers every month in
SASS matches and I live them. Well worth the money. What you get is a Uberti
pistol without the fancy case coloring or deep dark blueing. Same pistol,
just not as fancy and hundreds of dollars cheaper!!!

Here's what I know, Uberti was trying to get their SAA into the
country at the cheapest price point they could to obviously get their
sales up. The parts are identical to all of their guns but the finish
on the metal is just a simple bead-blasted matte finish with a blueing
over that. Normally they had color-case hardened receivers with
polished blue parts. So the answer that I believe to be true is that
it is the same gun with as cheap of a finish as they could possible
put on it.

Just my 2cents worth,

Ben
