I was reading an article in an old Shooting Times magazine I dug up. It
detailed the process that the 7mm STW traversed in becoming a factory load.
Realizing that what could be done for the 7mm could easily be done for the
7.62, I checked out existing 30 caliber magnum chamberings. 300 H&H, 300
Norma, 300 Winchester, & 300 Weatherby are all magnum 30 calibers. The 300
Winchester Magnum and the 8mm Remington Magnum are extremely similar in
dimensions since they both began life as 300 H&H cases. the 300 Winchester
Magnum case was shortened to 2.62 inches while the 8mm Remington Magnum case
2.85 inches. Given that the extension of body length coupled with the
normal body taper would create a narrower shoulder on the 8mm Magnum, all
other dimensions are identical (beyond the obvious 8mm vs 7.62mm) For that
reason it would be a simple matter to rechamber a 300 Winchester Magnum to
accept 8mm Remington Magnum shells that have been necked down to accept 7.62
bullets. My calculations suggest that this new wildcat would perform
nominally better than the 300 Weatherby Magnum, while being able to re-neck
the 7mm STW and the 8mm Remington Magnum to produce shells for this
chambering. Does anyone else have experience with this wildcat?

It's called the 30-8mm Remington Magnum. It's not new. There is also
the ICL wildcats, the .308 Baer and a few others. I have a wildcat
that is about the same thing. I get about 150-200 f/s more than the
300 Weatherby loads (out of a 28" barrel though).

this as the .300 Pegasus.
300 Kong - another variant of 30-378 Wthy Mag
.300 Dakota (from 404 Jeffrey)
7.82 Patriot - Lazzeroni
7.82 Warbird - Lazzeroni
300 Arnold Magnum
.30-338 (similar to .308 Norma Magnum)
300 Jamison (just below the regular 300 Magnums)
.30 G&A based on .404 Jeffrey
.30-416
300 Lapua Magnum - commercial version of .30-416
300 Mashburn Imperial - based on 300 H&H Magnum
300 TNT (Tietz-Novotny Thunderbolt) based on 300 H&H Magnum
300X60 MGL Max Mag - based on 378 Wthby Mag
300 Pfeifer Magnum - based on 300 H&H Magnum
300 HE Mag (HE = Heavy Express)
