I have a French made M.A.S. model 1935 S semi-automatic pistol (World
War II vintage). It requires 7.65mm Long cortridges. Does anybody
know where I can buy ammo for this pistol? Thanks!

Ed,
As best I can tell from Cartridges of the World and Small Arms of the
World, 7.65 Browning (Long) aka 7.65 Auto (and also called .32 ACP) is not
what you want.
Those Frenchies, being French, chambered those 1935 pistols in 7.65 MAS
aka 7.65 French Long. I suspect that what the Scrounger lists on his
webpage at http://www.snowcrest.net/oldwest/main.html as:

ITEM# 2707 32 FRENCH LONG 93gr FMJ 50/$43.25

is what you are looking for. Can't hurt to give him a call.
Good luck, Bob.

The 7.65mm Long is also known as the .30 Pederson, for the M1903 Mark I
Pederson Device. Not much help, as the Pederson rounds are even rarer!

Umm, that would be the number for Sportsman's Guide, right?

And that would be the same Sportsman's guide that has .32 Smith&Wesson Long
for sale, right?

And .32 Smith&Wesson Long would be a REVOLVER cartridge having absolutely
NOTHING to do with the 7.65mm Longue round that was the French service round
(designed for semiautomatic pistols!!!) from 1934 to 1940 or so.

Have a good one,

Adam

I just read an article on converting brass from 30 carbine and from 32 auto and 32
Long. The writer loved the pistols, and said that modifying the brass was a pain,
but turned an otherwise paperweight into something that you could shoot once in
a while. Most of the modifications involved turning them down on a drill with a file.
It was in Gun Digest from 95 I think, but it could have been 96 or 97.

You know, I just re-read my post, and you're right. I came across as a complete
boor/snob/(insert expletive here). Please accept my apology. Sometimes I get
so caught up in being "FC" (Firearms Correct) that I fail to remember that we're
all just trying to help on another here. Again, I hope you'll forgive my rather
outlandish behavior.

As an aside, I ordered a box of the 7.65mm Longue from the Old Western
Scrounger. They appear to be loading the cases with 7.65mm Parabellum bullets
(i.e. .30 caliber, 93grain). I'll let you know when they arrive and how they
shoot.

Best regards,

Adam Firestone

These are actually two different cartridges. I have examples of both.
