I just tried it on my Mustang and it does the same thing. Its not a
problem for me as I carry my Mustang fully-cocked safety on at all time.

As with many others of this design, what you call "half-cock" is not
really a half-cock position, but a safety ledge, should the hammer fall
from full cock.
It merely catches the hammer on the sear at that point and prevents the
hammer from punching the firing pin.
"Half-cock" should never be used as a resting place for the hammer,
under ANY circumstances. it simply is what it is. . .
