Hello,
I was looking at the IMI (Israel Military Industries) BABY EAGLE. I have
not sean any articles or any information on this gun.
To my eye, it is one of the best looking pistols on the market.
I also realy like the heft & feel of the gun.
I would like to pick one up for home protection.

(Some blankety-blank low life tried to get in to our home the other night,
while we were home. That is a sick feeling!! Waiting for the police to
come, knowing in the mean time if the !#@?{! does get in I COULDEN'T DO A
DAMM THING to protect my family.) I have had guns in the past & formor
military, so this is not knee-jerk know nothing going to hurt myself
thinking, sold my guns when the kids came along, bad mistake.

Anyone know anything about this weapon? Any thoughts on .40 S&W -vs- 9
mil.
I had a Ruger P89 (9 mil) when they first came out, liked it. I have heard
that .40 S&W is far better than 9 mil. and even better that .45 cal.
Not looking to start a debate, just need some thoughts from some
experienced people.

Please post here or send me e-mail direct with information / thoughts.

Thanks in advance,
Daniel Tafoya

Any of these three is fine as a defensive round, as long as
you put the shots in the right place. Personally, I prefer the .45,
but I also have a Glock in .40. As to effectiveness, IMHO, it's
largely a toss-up.

Of course, a 12 ga. pump shotgun would be _far_ more effective
than any of these, and quite a bit cheaper, too.

Greetings,
I have owned both the 40 S+W Baby Eagle and the 9mm and I loved both of
them. The 40 is a better stopper IMHO but the 9mm was nicer to shoot.
Both are extemely accurate and reliable hand guns and either will serve
your purpose just fine. The beutiful thing about the Baby eagles is the
grip design. A pronounced palm swell that seats the gun in your hand for
very effective point shooting, especially valuable in a stress fire
shooting situation. The gun practically seats itself. The handgun is
basically a CZ75 but refined by IMI (Israeli Military Industries) to
exacting standards. The chief diference is that the Baby Eagle has a
polygonal smooth bore barrel whereas the CZ75 is rifled. You will get
higher velocities out of the Baby Eagle due to a better gas check and
reduced blow by over the rifled barrels. Fun to shoot if you like
shooting regularly but a little heavy for regular concealed carry. It
would make a perfect home/ range gun. They come in three variations in
9mm, fullsize - 16round preban capacity, compact - same capacity, shorter
barrel length and sub compact - 10 round capacity shorter grip and barrel
length. The 40 S+W comes with a fullsize capacity of 11 (preban) 10 post
and only comes in a compact but no subcompact. Magnum research is the
importer and they are good about customer service. If you have any other
questions let me know. Enjoy!
Sincerely,
Matthew Blake

The Baby Eagles are a good choice for a pistol. I would go for the
.40 S&W, to make a bigger impression :-)

I called Magnum Research last year and asked a few questions on the
Baby Eagles. They told me that IMI was designing a Baby Eagle in
*.45 ACP*, to be announced sometime in late 1995 or 1996. I hope
they haven't changed their corporate minds.

Errr... Not exactly. Last I heard, the only Israeli part in a Baby DE
was the barrel. the rest of the parts are made by Tanfoglio...
