#The firing pin (just the tip) broke on my rebuilt Glock 17 for the
#second time. The first time was after aprox 300 rounds and 100
#dryfires. The second time was at about the 800 round mark with an
#additional 100 dryfires. Anyone else seen/heard of this?
I've got a G17, 20, and 21. The 17 and 21 have seen about 8-10K
rounds each. My new G20 only has about 1500 through it right now.
I've probably dry fired my 17 and 21 over 1000 times combined.
I have not had a single problem with any of them, not even a misfeed.
I think you've got some killer primers or something else going on.
One broken striker - maybe - two? I doubt it.
Call Glock and see what they say!

Sounds weird to me...I would send the gun back to glock (with the broken
firing pins) to have them look at it. They should fix it for free. I
have over 7200 rounds through mine with probably 3000 dry fires & no
problems at all.

I have 21, a 20, and a 27, 1000s of rounds and a lot of dry firing, no
problems. Have you looked carefully at your spent primers, any
indications of overpressure?

I had a friend who had a S&W semi-auto. His firing pin broke, and he
sent it back in. To make a long story short, the slide was coming out of
battery too soon, and the firing pin was being wedged between the spent
primer, and the firing pin hole in the slide when the barrel started to
tilt, causing the pin to eventually shear off the tip. S&W wouldn't give
him the gun back (they said it wasn't safe) , but they did refund his
full purchase price (he didn't want another one).
Good luck with your problem.......nothing more frustrating than buying
(and paying for) quality, and ending up with a problem!

I've personally seen the front sites fall off a Glock at a range.
Nothing else surprises me with a plastic gun. Just refill it with water
it'll work again.
Sounds like eric doesn't know a true combat weapon when he see's one.
Sure the stock sights are lousy; but if I were in a water fight, that's
the "plastic gun" I'd defend my life with.... "Don't Glock home without
it"
Dear Don: I've heard the Glock 9mm's have a tendency to begin to unlock
before the firing pin has a chance to retract, thereby causing a smear
mark on the primer. Assuming this is true with hot ammo, this could
lead to excessive stress on the firing pin tip. Maybe Cali loads real
hot 9mm ammo. - CW
If you bought it rebuilt from Glock, send them back and have them
check it out. If you bought it rebuilt from someone else, send it to
Glock and have them check it out.
There's clearly something wrong with the gun - this is NOT standard
Glock reliability.
