Does anyone know if the barrel of the New England Firearms Handi-rifle
will fit their single shot shotguns?

supposedly the frames are of different strengths, so do not put a rifle barrel
on a shotgun frame,
the rifle frames can be fitted with the shotgun
or the
''large rifle '' type frame ie 3006 could be ftted with a 3030 or shotgun.

They will FIT the single shot shotguns. Wether they will shoot or not
I do not know. I interchanged them once just to see if they fit but
the factory highly recommends not doing so. I tend to trust the
factory.

Only NEF will fit new barrels to their receivers (you can't buy them
over the counter). They will only fit rifle or shotgun barrels to the
rifle receivers - the SB2 receivers. I believe you can get additional
shotgun barrels for their shotguns - the SB1 receiver.

So, after all that, the answer is no.

you have to send gun back to NEF to get other barrels fitted to your
receiver.

I have tried to mount the shotgun barrels on any of 3 Handi-Rifles. They would
not match up, not enough clearance. Also I cannot swap out the 223, 243, 30-06
receivers with the other barrels. You CAN shoot them but there is smoke that
covers the butt plates. I just think that it might lead into something that
might hurt somebody. If you send in your SDB Handi-Rifle with your shotgun
barrel(s) the 'smith will do gunwork to make them fit well.

Our family has several NEF shotguns and rifles. We have 3 shotguns, (20 and
2-12's). In the fifles, we have 1-.223, 1-243, and 1 - 30-06. We have enjoyed
these guns immensely. At age 9, Wm. went to state in 4-H Shooting Sports in
trap. Didn't do too well but the next 2 years, he and 2 other on his squad won
state. He had in second yr. shooting tied for 2nd, in shoot-off came in 3rd.
In the first two years he used the H&R 12 (no trigger work, choke work was
done). The fall that followed the 2nd state we bought him an 1100, trap grade,
2-3/4 chamber. After a lot of practice his squad was 1st again. He came in
2nd hi-point. We really pushed all of the kids in the 4-H group to shoot 12ga
guns. We could really tell a difference in the dead-miss count.

That was too long of a response that wasn't asked for. I do like all of the
single-shots that we have though. Recoil is not light though. Shooting out of
a light gun usually increases recoil. The barrels on the rifle barrels are all
22" long. These guns are pretty good. The '06 is not as accurate midrange.
Around 125 yds it is pretty good and then from 210-300 is also good. The 223
is very accurate out to about 220 and it loses its forward motion very quickly
there. The 243 is, like it shows, in the middle of the other two. Very little
recoil from it. I have only shot the 100 HPSPT grn bullets in it. I just got
a chronograph here back ago. I have not had a chance to use it on my firearms.
I'll be going out this weekend - my dad's place - and do some shooting. I'm
very lucky to have a place to go anytime I want to, that is if the timing and
weather is going my way.

Most likely for your shotgun, no. The easy way to tell is your model number.
Most shotgun model numbers start with SB1-xxx. In order to take rifle barrels,
the frames have to have a model number starting with SB2-xxx. You can on the
otherhand order shotgun barrels to fit the handi-rifles.

N.E.F. states in their pricing sheet that you can have almost any shotgun
barrel fitted to their Handi-Rifle receivers, but if you own a Pardner-SB1
shotgun (as I do), you cannot get a rifle barrel fitted to it. You are
limited to only other shotgun barrels. I believe the combo 410/.45 barrel is
the only exception.

I don't know if there is a structural reason for this, or they just want you
to spend the extra money for the rifle first, then let you have the reasonable
other rifle barrels. I would think a 12 ga shotgun receiver would stand up to
a .223 rifle barrel, and, if you have a .223 Handi-rifle, you CAN get a 12 ga
shotgun barrel fitted to that!

Bummer.

If you write the company, they can fit a shotgun
barrel to your rifle of new manufacture. Do not
just put a shotgun barrel to the reciever of your
rifle, since it may cause problems/

It is not recommended to put rifle barrel on shotgun receiver. There is to
much space between the two for it to be safely done. Anyway for me, I keep a
shotgun in my stand along with the rifle, one of .223, .243, 30-06. All of
these are a separate rifle in itself. I went along with the premise that if I
wanted to just jump in the truck and try to get a hog or coyote I would not
have to mess with taking the gun down and replacing the barrel. I can just
grab and go. Also it seems that the guns fit a little bit different. I have
put an adjustable pad on all of them.
Anyway this is what I feel.

If the shotgun is based on the SB-2 receiver, you can. Not so for
the more common SB-1 receiver...
