Does anyone have an experience with either scope on an AR15 (A2 upper)?
With the limited supply, I'll probably have to buy sight unseen (no pun
intended).

The TA11 (3.5x35) has a longer eye relief than the
TA31 (4x32) but is also a lot longer, which, according to one review I've
read, forced the users to abandon the "nose-to-the-changing handle" aiming
method for the irons.

I don't want to be poking my eye out. As this would be the first scope I've
ever purchased, is .9 inches in eye relief a difference maker? The other
stats seem close (to my untrained eye) to each other. Anything else I should
consider about these two?

Thanks,
John

I would take the TA31 over the TA11 every time. I've got a TA01, which is
almost identical to the TA31, but without the fiber optic. The eye relief
is short, but it is not an issue with the mild recoil of the AR15. If you
are used to the "nose to the handle" then the TA31 will be fine. I had my
TA01 mounted in the carry handle, and it was fine. It is more a chin weld
than a cheek weld however. I've since moved to a flat top and have the
scope mounted lower now, and I like it better.
I have shot an AR10 .308 with the same scope (rifle had a brake too) and
I've "scoped" myself a few times. I can't imagine shooting it without a
brake.....OUCH!

Check out www.ar15.com for even more info. There is a section under "AR15"
that deals with optics specifically, and you'll find lots of info on the
TA31.

Another good resource for this question would be www.ar15.com. Lots
of expertise there.

I have a TA31 donut sitting on a flattop 20" AR, I love it, I also went
through the searching you did as to which one is better. I had the benefit
of looking through and shooting a TA11 on a friends gun, but when I went to
purchase a scope I compared the TA11 and TA31 side by side at the store and
chose the TA31, in my opinion it had much clearer optics, a better field of
view, and I liked the compactness of it. the short eye relief isn't a
problem for me, I don't even notice it any more.

I guess the main question is what are you going to use the gun for, If
your doing some run and gun stuff I like the longer eye relief, it helps
when you need to "snap" the gun up and hit a steel target or popper, but if
your just going to have fun go with the 31.I'm kind of contradicting myself
since I do use mine for 3 gun matches, and the only time I ever "scope"
myself is when I shoot prone, mainly because I'm trying to beat the clock
and get those shots off, standing or kneeling no problem.

Found a TA01 at a gun show. I liked it dispite is not having the BAC
feature. Needed
a scope for precision anyway, so I picked it up. Tried it out today, and I
love it! :)
