Relative has a Daewoo 9mm with 13 shot magazine.
New mags are *very* spendy.
I have heard that the S&W model 59 mags will interchange.

Does anyone have any experience with this or other options?

Thanks,

S&W magazines will work in a Daewoo. Is the DP51 a compact model? (Because it
only has a 13 round capacity?) I remember before the hi-cap ban, seeing Daewoo
pistols (sorry can't remember the exact model number) that used Daewoo 'factory'
14 (or 15?) round magazines, and a dealer showed me that a S&W magazine fit in
it,; flush fit. This means that at least for that model (and I've never seen a
compact Daewoo, in my area) any good quality aftermarket S&W magazine should fit
the Daewoo, as well.

Yes they do, but I remember the slide not locking back on the last shot.

Yes, the 59 mags will fit and feed in the DP-51. I do think they extend below
the grip. You might try 69 series mags, too. If they fit, I think they will
fit flush.

Thanks for your help.
The Daewoo DP-51 is not a compact. The grip is a *little* shorter than a Beretta or
Sig and therefore only holds 13 rounds. Daewoo also makes (made?) a compact that
only holds 10 rounds. These 10 round magazines are often fitted with an *extended*
base plate to allow them to function in a 13 round pistol, but they are quite
expensive so I wanted to see what other options I have.
I will further investigate the S&W model 59 magazine option.

Thanks again,

I've used several SW59 magazines in my DP51. The only problem is that the
slide does not lock back after the last shot.

I modified the magazine followers by building up the surface that engages
the slide-lock with some JB Weld. I'm sure there is a variety of products
that could do the job. This solved the problem completely for me.

The magazines do protrude about 1/4" from the bottom of the grip.

My grandfather recentely passed away and I recieved several rifles and Daewoo
DP51 pistol. I know how to break down the rifles and clean them, but I've
never owned a semi auto and couldn't find any of the paperwork or cleaning
instructions that may have come woth the pistol. I was wondering if anyone
had any source for detailed instructions to disassemble this pistol(a la field
strip it). Any guidance would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks, Shawn
