I'm trying to find a rear sight for a Rossi .308 single shot rifle
(Model R308MB). Being a rather old gun, I'm not having much
luck. Does anyone know where I might find one?

Thanks

Might ask the factory http://www.rossiusa.com/pdf/rossi_manual_single_shotgun.pdf
305-474-0401 If yours is the one with the rear sight on the thickest
part of the barrel close to the breech the parts you need are number
62 and 63.

Not familiar with that one, but if it's an open dovetail sight, have a
look at what Williams offers, if you crap out with Rossi/Taurus.
Numrich doesn't list that model, just a "Wizard" single shot and only
a .22 barrel for that. Brownell's is one source for irons. If it's
just an open leaf sight with an elevator, you could probably replace
that with most any make that fits the dovetail. For that stuff, I look
at the junk boxes at the shows. If you've got some custom-made rear
sight that's screwed on like the one guy's shotgun pdf shows, lotsa
luck with that. You'd have to be very lucky to find an original
outside the manufacturer or have to adapt something to fit.

The model Model R308MBS comes with open sights from the factory - you
could probably order spares for that model. If it were me, I would be
more inclinded to have an aperture rear sight fitted - most any decent
gunsmith could do that.

I have a Rossi single shot .22 youth rifle. When I decided too put on a
peep sight, my gunsmith cut a dove tail right into the top of the barrel
and added a Williams peep.

I don't know if this will work for center fire rifles.
