I bought this Mossberg Model 46B-B (used) in about 1959. I was 16 years old
at the time. I had some problems with shells loading into the bolt. The
shell will pull into the bolt but would not align with the chamber. I put
the gun away and just recently got it out again. I still have the problem.
I thought after all these years I would have learned something about guns
and could repair it. I guess I was wrong. I've cleaned everything, and all
parts appear to be ok. Can anyone give me an idea what the problem could
be. I do have a name of a good gun smith but I hate to admit defeat. Any
thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

When you state the cartridge won't align with the chamber, is it do to the
cartridge being presented at to high an angle (the cartridge hitting the top
of the chamber?

The cartridge is loaded into the bolt, the previous cartridge is ejected, as
the bolt is moved forward the cartridge remains too low on the bolt and hits
the lower side of the chamber. The spring loaded part on the bottom of the
gum that moves the cartridge up on the bolt to align it with the firing
chamber seems to work ok. I think the spring and the "thing" on the other
side of the bolt isn't holding the cartridge up against the bolt properly.
Both parts don't seem to be worn to excess but the cartridge appears to be a
little loose. I'm afraid to start bending or doing other stupid things
without some advice.
