Finally, I got an offer from Sweden. A gentleman has found fifty
rounds of 8 x 54 KJ, from the latest Norma production run, so fresh you
can almost smell it (that is: 1958 !).

The bad thing: we wants 285,- DM for them, about 190,- US-$.
Anyone here know a cheaper source ?

Thanks,

"Cartridges of the World" says that it is a necked-up 6.5x55 Swede
cartridge.

No.

But it is surely possible to reload yourself. The 8x54 is the 6.5x55
necked up to 8mm bullets.
I believe reloading data is possble to find.

Now, reloading dies is another problem....
I suppose you could get a gunsmith or machinist to modify a 6.5x55 die
set if you are unable to find 8x54 dies.

I'll bet that Huntington in Oroville, CA has 'em!

And I'll bet C-H Tool and Die has them also and for 1/2 to 2/3 the
price of Huntington.

Redding (and I believe RCBS) will make custom dies, given the
specifications in terms of reamer dimensions, or three fired cartridges.
Custom dies take 10-12 weeks to make and can be obtained through
Sinclair International. Tel: (219) 493 1858, fax (219) 493 2530. The
partial listing of (standard) dies made by Redding presented in
Sinclair's catalog doesn't appear to include the 8x54 but it may still
be a 'standard custom' die, I don't know.
