Been waiting a couple of weeks for a SKS scope and mount kit I ordered from
sksman.com (Paul's Guns of Merrimack, NH). I went to look for something
else on his site and was immediately directed to another site. Using my
"back" button (and reading really fast) it appears that he is out of
business. The site says that if there are any orders placed recently that
we will be contacted by e-mail, but nothing in my box yet. I have tried to
contact them by phone for a few days only to hear the busy signal each time
(regular and toll-free number). Guess I'll notify my CC company today to
see what can be done as my account was charged as soon as he received the
order. This is a shame, I had heard good things about this outfit.

Can anybody in the area shed some light on this situation?

I have just found out that Paul D. (SKSMAN), has suffered a serious stroke
(second one in eight years) recently and is in the hospital and is
temporarily out of business. As he is a one man operation he will not be
able to fulfill your order, you should be receiving a credit on your card
soon, if not (it is taking a friend of his a little time to sort everything
out) I would cancel the transaction thru your card company. Paul is a super
guy and always tried to treat his customer right. I've have done business
with him for over ten years(long before having a SKS was cool) and it would
be a shame to lose such a politically incorrect business such as his. Lets
wish him a speedy and full recovery. I've not done business with
www.combatstock.com (the forwarded site) so I cannot attest to whether they
are a good business or not.

Out of business? Gee, go figure. He only had the highest prices on SKS
parts of any dealer I've found. A little higher I can understand, but
300% on many things is ridiculous. All he had to do was check his
competitors prices. Good riddance. Sorry about your problem though. I
hope you don't get burned. I haven't heard anything bad about his
service.

Sorry to hear that he's ill. As I said earlier, I have heard nothing but
good reports about his business, so I figured something like this might have
happened. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Did he ever force anyone to buy one of his guns? If not, then why are we glad
he is out of business? One less source for firearms. I hardly see that as a
good thing on any level.

I second the sentiment. Paul was a great guy to do business with. I
am saddened by the news and hope his family well. He alwasy was great
with customer service even when it wasn't his problem to fix, yet he
did.

He was always pleasant to talk to and had worthwhile things to say.

I wish Paul the best.

You're right, he never forced anyone to buy anything, and I certainly
wish the man no ill will, especially in light of his medical problems.
I just have a thing for businesses that try to screw the buyers with
their prices, hence why I believe so strongly that competition is a
good thing.

I live in a city where most of the major gun shops, many were decades
old, have finally closed. This leaves little competition, and to buy
locally we can expect to pay a large premium over the national
average. This in a city where the average wage is $11,000 less per
year than the national average. I celebrate whenever the highest
priced business closes, regardless of what they were selling.
