Does one exist? Sorry to bring up this topic again. Most of the
postings that I read earlier were how to protect one part of the
garden. Is there way to make a cat proof fence? My garden is pretty
small 25x40 and has a four foot fence around it. I was thinking about
putting up some sort of lattice. Usually there is the cap that is a 2x4
that goes on the very top. I was thinking about leaving this off so
that the cats wouldn't have a "highway road" throughout the entire
garden. Will a cat be able to climb lattice first of all? If they can
would the be able to balance well enough to walk across the top?

This situation is getting pretty bad because my neighbor does not own
the cats but just likes feed them. (20 or so if you have to know) The
local SPCA said, the only thing that they are willing to do is to "fix
the cats" if I catch them myself and bring them in.

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "lattice" but simple chicken wire should be a
protection from most animals except deer and perhaps raccoons. ..Or try an
electric fence. Perhaps you want something that looks better? Whatever
method, I doubt cats would engage in too much difficult climbing. If
"lattice" means vertical fencing (like snow fence) it should work as well.

Try this first! cheap, harmless and easy. I had made the mistake of "Black
Cow" mixture for my unfenced front flower bed. The message went out for
miles from cat to cat. They all came to enjoy the new "facility". I, too,
want to live peaceably and didn't want to hurt the kittys. I put moth balls
in plastic butter tubs. Punctured the lids with the "v" shape on the bottle
opener (big holes) and permanently sealed the tubs. tape, glue, whatever.
The odor was disgusting and offensive to the cats. On hot damp evenings it
wasn't so great to us either but at least the cats found another place and
were unharmed.

I agree with both other posts. If by lattice you mean the woven wood strips
that are sold in either 2x8 or 4x8 sheets, yes cats could climb that. On a
positive note I bet you have no trouble with rabbits or voles.

Sure it does. I had one on my deck for years -- designed to keep the
kitties IN whilst still permitting them exposure to the great outdoors .
. . they used to crawl into the grape vines twining across the top and
stage attacks on unwary passersby. The essential ingredients are a TOP
and a bottom that is firmly fastened to the ground or buried at least
six inches.
