Someone told me to bore holes in soil around roots of forsythia and pour
gasoline.

Sounds cheap, unfriendly to environment, and more importantly does it work?

I have one forsythia that just won't die. I pruned off even with the
ground, and it has never looked so good as it does this year! I don't have
room to hook to chain and tractor and pull up by roots. I've taken a
maddock to roots, but again to no avail. Help please.

Roundup would be the best if you want to grow anything else there. Salt and
deisel fuel (kerosene) will poison the ground and kill it. Or you could just
give it to someone who realizes how pretty they are.

Buy the Roundup concentrate and mix with less water than normal. The bush must
have leaves so do prune it first. Cover the leaves with a sprayer than hit it
again two weeks later. may take a month but it will work.

Never pour oil or fuel directly on the ground. It is against the law and
harmful to the environment.

How about putting a sign in local supermarkets, offering the plant free
to anyone who wants to dig it up (and maybe supply replacement dirt)???

That is the very best suggestion.
