Hello,
I'm hoping for a little horticultural advice. I am getting married on August
1 '98 and would like to give packets of seeds as favors for our guests
(something that they can plant as a symbol of the growth of love, yada yada.)
However, it would be nice if the seeds could be planted in late summer without
being killed by frost before blooming (which would kind of kill the symbolism
as well.) Do you know of any flowering plants which fit this description? I
could use bulbs, instead, but I'm guessing this would be much more expensive.

By the way, we (and most of the wedding guests) live in the northern Midwest
(Michigan and Ohio area.)

Thanks so much for your help,
Robyn

Just because a plant does not flower in the year you plant the seeds,
does not remove the wonderful message you are trying to give.
Perennial seeds are best for this. It can represent how a plant
germinates and goes away, but does not die. Rather, it returns to
flourish in the next growing season, as the Sun returns high in the
sky. Hope springs eternal, and the seeds you plant in August will grow
again in the warmth of the new season of renewal.
