central IL bushes

I am interested in a small bush (no taller than 4 to 5 feet) that
will survive the somewhat harsh Central Illinois winters. Does
anyone have any ideas. Honey suckle, lilacs, burnign bushes? I am
at a loss as to what does well in this area! Oh yah, and full sun
in the afternoons.

Lilas, burningbushes, and honeysuckle will probably do okay.
Forsythias may be okay.
