I think my lantana has produced little berry like structures after
blooming. Either that or the insects in my garden have excellent aim!
They almost look like black pearls. I squeezed one and it reacted just
like a berry. Are these seed pods? Something else? It was quite a
surprise to see them on a bright yellow plant, but I've never grown
lantana before either!

TIA,

Yes, mine do this, too. One actually volunteered in a seed flat I had left
underneath it, and the 6" tall plant is already setting flower buds of its own!

Yes, the fruit of Lantana are black berries. They are not edible but birds
may like them anyway.

I have lantana for the first time, too. Do I keep the berries, dry them,
and plant them next year?

>Yes Sue the lantana produces dark berries in which are the seeds.
Since the berries are toxic if eaten, watch your pets/ toddlers so
they do not eat them.

You could but Lantanas are so easy to propagate from cuttings that most
don't bother. They do grow quickly from seeds but plants from cuttings will
bloom earlier.
