The DTE Energy Detroit Bloomfest takes palce at Cobo Hall April 8-11. It's
modeled after the Philadelphia show, and features over 4 acres of
professional landscape designs, including building structures, water
gardens, etc. Plus a 1/3-scale replica of the Belle Isle Conservatory,
lecture/demos, juried flower arrangements, nonprofit booths, booths for sale
of all kinds of garden-related stuff, and a children's corner. Admission is
$8 in advance, $10 at the door. The show is supposed to take the place of
the old Ann Arbor show (I think) on a larger scale. All of the major
exhibitors are local landscape firms and nurseries, so you can actually talk
to the folks who designed and forced the blooms. Cranbrook is one of the
exhibitors, too, if I remember correctly.
If anyone is interested in details, I'll post more here. Or via email. :-)
I'm really looking forward to it!
(A little more excited, too, 'cause I'm a novice gardener and just today
spotted my crocus and/or tulips popping through the soil in the front bed.
Yay!)

Well, let's see. For those who might be interested in going to the show, the
best place to get all the information would be the website:
www.bloomfest.com. Hopefully they'll post a schedule of events
(lectures/demos/shows) real soon. I notice that they don't have hours or
times listed on the site, though (duh-oh!!). Here's the info.:
Thurs. - Sat (April 8-10) 10 am - 9 pm
Sun. (April 11) 10 am - 6 pm
Tickets are $10 at the door, $8 in advance. You can buy them at Detroit
Edison customer offices and at some nurseries in the area -- I think
Bordine's is one of them, but I'm not sure. They have discounted tickets for
seniors and kids, but I'm not sure of the prices or ages.

>Yes, yes... give us details and more details! I went to the Philly show
last week & even though I found bits of it disappointing, I was like a kid
at Christmas running around there with camera and notebook in hand. Tell us
what you see!
