I recently planted NuMex Sahara Bermuda Grass about 14 days ago. I live
in Southwest Arizona where our temps have been about 85-100 degress. I
put a starter fertilizer, seeded by spreader, and covered with a light
spread of steer manure. Prior to this I have winter Rye, therefore, I
was advised by locals here that just let it die and bull rake the Rye
out, plant my new seed, rake over, and water. I have been watering about
3-5 times a day in that our soil is very very sandy and dry. This
variety of grass grows very well in our area, and has a germination
period of 10-14 days. Well, Now that the 14th day has come, my grass has
only sprouted about 10 percent in about 50 percent of my square area 1800
ft. My question is, should I have re-tilled this area. Am I being
impatient in that I should wait longer for the rest of the grass to
germinate. Any reply's would be appreciated. Thanks. bob
