I was given some roses by a poor guy who passed away. I don't know how
to care for them. Don't know how often to water or feed, sun or
shade??? Also, the buds are drying up and shriveling away before they
open.

Any help???

Thanks,
Gloria

Go to http://www.ars.org and look under the "ask the experts" section.
There's alot of information on how to care for roses there. Also
at the ARS site are listings of local rose societies where you can
go to find out how to care for them in your area or find a
consulting rosarian in your area.

Roses need at least 6 hours of sun. I feed my roses every week throughout most
of the spring and summer with Miracle Gro...either the one for roses or the
general one for just about everything. In the middle of the Spring however, I
buy a Rose food...I believe it is put out by Ortho in a large green container.
I'm not sure of the name exactly..but it is specifically for roses....and I
think every 6 weeks after that you should use this product. Many times, roses
are prone to diseases and "pests"...especially Japanese beetles (the little
buggers)....and they need to be sprayed. Roses are a bit of work, but you will
reap the benefits over and over again with a little care and a lot of love.
Have fun!
