Never heard of it. But its just what I need, a bunch of drunken aphids
out raising heck in my garden late on a Saturday night. :)
. Has anyone heard of spraying/wiping plants with vodka to prevent aphids?
No, not to prevent aphids but to kill them. I often do. 1 tblspoon/litre
of water. Works fine here.

Actually, it's much more effective to drink the vodka yourself.
Eventually you will not notice any aphids. ;-)
More seriously, I haven't heard of this, but do you mean that the
vodka will keep aphids away? ...or is this a method of discouraging
(= kill) them once they're on the plant in question?

Dear Roberta,
What a waste of vodka. Id rather mix up a bloody mary.
The best way to get rid of aphids routinely is to mist spray
them with soapy suds. Put a couple of squirts of washing
up liquid in a mist sprayer and fill with tepid water (about a pint).
Shake and spray affected plants. Don,t get very heavy
on the washing up liquid as you may burn the plants.
Increase the dose though for scale on leathery
plants,
cheers,
