I am in the philly area and am wanting to plant lettuce/greens. The
seed packets don't mention when the best time to plant is or any frost
warnings. Any advice is appreciated-A.

You can put lettuce seed on top of what you guess to be the years last snowfall
and when it melts it will grow. Now you won't get straight rows but you will
get lettuce.

Lettuce is tolerant of light frost. You can plant it out in a cold
frame any time after the last hard frost; or in the main garden any time
after the last frost.

How convenient - we just got 9 inches down here in the DC area. I was
getting ready to get my lettuce and spinach out in the garden (it says
to sow as soon as ground can be worked, so I figured it wasn't too
early). Then it got kinda (really) cold, then it snowed, and we're not
done yet - its gonna snow again Sunday or Monday. Lovely spring weather
we're having (meteorological spring anyway)!

Looked around the other morning on my way to work and thought, how
beautiful the snow cover makes everything. Then thought, now let it
melt - it's too late and I'm ready to get going on the garden!
