When do I need to aerate my lawn? Also can I spread dillo dirt after
aeration? live in Austin, Texas.

You can aerate any time, but spring is usually a good time. Now is fine.
Spreading a layer of dillo dirt is a great way to put organic matter into the
plugs you remove. I am assuming you will be using a core aerator. That is
really the only aeration I recommend for our clay soils. I would say to also
incorporate some decomposed granite in your top dress mix. It will give the
soil some structure.

Forgive me, but what is "dillo dirt" and where can I find/purchase it?

I don't know if you can get it where you are. It is what Texas calls their
processed sewage material. They compost it and sell it by the truck, or bag.
