Mail Order Catalogue Companies & Zone 9 growing

Hi...

I've read and seen so many Mail Order Catalogue listings around on the
web. I wanted to know if people had a preference as to who to order
their BULBS & Perennials from. I have heard that Dutch Gardens is good
as well as Van Bourgondien & Scheepers.   I have been warned to stay
away from Michigan Bulb Co and their affiliates. I want to make sure I
go with a company who has a majority of happy customers so that I dont
get screwed over, since Im a new gardener.

So any suggestions or comments people can give me is great! I do all
container planting because we live in an apartment, Im in California,
Zone 9 and also wondering what grows best out here?
