What a good question! I received some seeds at a family reunion in 1989
from our "family" home in Sweden for columbine. Most of the U.S. family
has been in this country since 1889, so it was a treat to plant a
continuum. The columbine came up blue on blue, deep blue, almost purple.
It is now a weed in my garden, but a true joy in my heart. It's been
passed along by me to several other members of my family.

Hi Catherine,

Most of the seeds we grow here come from plants that were grown from
seed either from our family's gardens, or the gardens of friends or
other members of our organic growers assn. Some of us are very commited
to growing on the old varieties, especially those that are no longer
"approved".

eg - all of my current hollyhocks came from my Mother's garden. The new
seeds going in this year came from a dear friend in the UK. My radishes
have been with me at least 20 years, and so have our favorite flower -
the apple green zinnia called Envy! I have some unique perennial onions
that were brought in from Holland by the people who first developed this
farm. The list goes on, and is a passion.

Another Thyme,
Lilith
