Just got back from Paris and spent the whole trip in gardens. Except
one stop by the Musee O'Orsey to see the impressionist's paintings
before going to Giverny. What a garden!! It was in its full June
splendor. We also visited 3 rose gardens, all of which were in full
bloom. The first was Bagatelle, a rose garden for compitition I think.
The winners since the early 1900's were blooming there. There wer lots
of McGredy roses (Sam McGredy, I think who used to post on
rec.gardens.roses). Then, we went to Malmaison to see Josephine's rose
gerden, which had been replanted with cutting of the original bushes
that had been preserved at L'Hay les Rose, the last garden we visited.
You could smell those old roses in Josephine'sa garden from 10 feet
away.

Always wanted to see Giverny...that guy, Moe Nay, tried painting pictures
there, but they're all so fuzzy - can't make out the details.

His house was as nice as his garden. It is as if the garden doesn't
stop...just enters the house and keeps blooming. All the windows have a view
of the garden. And comfortable looking! A nice house for living.
