I would like to take some cuttings from some conifer trees my friend has to
eventually grow my own.

Any handy hints or tips?

Thanks

Dean

Dean,
The best time to take Conifer cuttings is from early to mid autumn. You need to
select strong leading shoots from the current years growth.Do not use
sideshoots.
Take semi or ripewood cuttings of 2"~6" in length, cutting to just below a node.
Strip off the lower foliage, dip the end in a rooting compound and place in a pot
of cutting compost having watered the pot first..I use a mixture of 50% peat and
50% sharp sand.Place the pot in a propagator.Rooting should take place between
three to six months.Check the pot frequently and water lightly if it dries out.
Good luck,
