Well, too late. I ordered, got my stuff, and already planted most of it.
I guess I'll learn my lesson. Hopefully something will grow. Or should I
not plan on anything growing? Wow, I'm really depressed now. I don't even
feel like planting the rest of what I have. I still have some annual bulbs
and some perinnials to plant. Boo Hoo!

Cheer up! What does grow will reward you for your efforts. I have a beautiful
iris blooming from MB. Of course I only got half of the order!

No! Don't give up! Plant them and take care of them; who knows, you may
be the one, a month from now, to come back to this forum and tell us we
were all wrong. As with all advice, your mileage may vary! A few people
have reported good results with Michigan Bulb; maybe you'll be in this
elite group.

I missed the original post, but my experience with MB has been fine.
- Stella D'Oro Daylilies. Growing well from scrawny beginnings.
- Gladiolus. Pea sized bulbs grew into glorious tall blooms, and dozens of
offspring. The bulbs were free as a bonus.
- Citronella plant. Also grew fine.

Beth--

I've been holding off on jumping in here, but I've ordered from Michigan
Bulb and have had no trouble! I have some beautiful Oriental Poppies,
Creeping Phlox, Sweet William (I ordered a dozen of these--they got HUGE,
and reseeded--I've supplied my mom and several friends with it, all from
the original 12 plants), lots of mums, too. I think they have a 3 year
replacement guarantee. Anyway, that's been my experience.

Their three year replacement guarantee is only valid if followed TO THE LETTER
(save all your shipping labels!) and if accompanies with a frimly worded
letter -- and THEN you still have to pay "shipping and handling" which ends up
costing as much as the plants would locally from a decent nursery or even Home
Depot! (My local Home Depot, anyway, deals with a good inexpensive source
which provides healthy quart-sized perennials for about $2 -- and you can see
what you are getting!)

I got some stuff from MB -- after 4 years or so, only a few things are alive
and I gave up after the first experience with their "guarantee". Probably
they are fairly safe for really durable plants, but you can get those better
elsewhere. (Sweet williams, for example, are easy from seed -- so *I* would
get seed!)

Cavaet emptor!

Don't worry. At least you'll be on their mailing list for the
rest of your life....
