Since our frost this week has ended the daylily season, here are my
observations on the reblooming daylilies I grow in my garden. These are grown
in a well-drained raised bed, full sun, mulched continuously with shredded
leaf/ grass compost. They were fed a couple of times during the season with
slow-release fertilizer.

Hands-down longest bloom period: Stella de Oro, yellow. First daylily to bloom
(May 20). Bloomed continuously, not in flushes. Still producing new scapes at
frost (Nov. 22). This is a "backbone" perennial, drought and pest resistant and
absolutely reliable.

Strawberry Candy, slightly apricotty pink with strawberry center. First flush
started June 22. Later, sparse flush in early August. This is their first full
year in my garden, so they may do better next year. This Stout Award Winner
makes a spectacular splash, easily seen from far away. The plants are very
strong and sturdy.

Siloam Double Classic, exquisite clear light pink, as ruffled as a petticoat.
First flush, early June to mid-July. A few scattered blossoms in August. This
Stout Award Winner is too delicate to show well at a distance, but (IMO) is
simply breathtaking from close up. Unlike most daylilies, reacts badly to
transplanting.

I would appreciate input on other reblooming daylily varieties.

None of the others rebloomed this year. Several are brand new, and still very
small.

I noticed my Double River Wye, had gotten a whole ner stalk on it. It
never made it to bloom, but now you have me wondering it the frost has since
killed it. I will have to check it out in the morning. I forgot to check it
out today when I was outside, noticing that the frost had killed just about
everything that had made it thus far.

Thanks Wendy. I am going to get strawberry candy next year. You've been raving
about it for so long! :)
I now have a daylily bed. I also put in tulips (dordogne) and crocus,
plus pushkinia for a spring display.

I had a very pleasant surprise from my pixie parasol I got from B&D
Lilies last January... They bloomed in June, then I divided them and
replanted in September. The foliage died down, and now I have scapes
on several of the divisions, poking up out of the dirt. I didn't
expect them to rebloom at all, so I was excited to get even a couple of
flowers before the frosts knocked them out.

They're a really cute apricot-colored mini that are a staple at the
front of my blue and apricot perennial border.
