Does anyone have any idea how long the lifespan of a red-tip photinia is?

Hi, Lance & Esther. I've never seen anything in print on this. But
judging from old photos of my country house, which has one photinia
exceeding three storeys tall and another just below the third-storey
roof, I can vouch for these specimens being at least 40 years old.

The biggest one has some heartrot, but a pro recently cleaned that out
for me and I think it's going to be fine. Certain Texas posters
earlier this spring noted the existence of some sort of pathogen down
there that was killing off lots of local red-tips. This was seconded
by somebody posting from the Carolinas. However, in SE Virginia, we
don't seem to have this or any other significant problem with our
photinias. If you are writing from one of these trouble zones,
perhaps another shrub would work better for you.
