I've got yellow banana peppers growing (yeah!). But they're turning
purplish/black. This happened before but I forgot why this happens and
what I should do about it. Any and all helpful responses are
appreciated!!!

Ripening? Mine have been producing a lot but I keep picking them when they
get to be about 7 to 8 inches long. Peppers turn color when they ripen.
Black spot soft? No, then I'd guess ripening. Otherwise, dunno!

I second that: they are ripening. Go ahead and pick 'em! If you
wait until the whole pepper turns purple it might start to soften into
over-ripe mush. Peppers are delicious after they start to fade from the
normal green growing color. Any time from light green to yellow to red to
purple are good times to pick.

It is probably sunburn. Chiles which are exposed to the sun will do
this. It will go away and doesn't hurt the chiles.
