Just a reminder that JPC Speaker's Day Saturday, November 4, 2000 will
feature talks and plants sales by:

PEDRO J. MARTINEZ, from Caracas, Venezuela. He is an expert on the
orchids from his country. Pedro has been the editor-in-chief of
ORQUIDEOPHILO, (The Latin American Orchid Magazine) since 1993. He is
also a member of the Orchid Specialty Group IUCN, and the upcoming
chairman of the 2001 Latin American Orchid Congress. His lecture will be
on the orchids of Venezuela. He will have a selection of plants for
sale.

H.P. NORTON, owner of Orchidview, a family-run orchid nursery in South
Carolina. H.P. has been growing and hybridizing orchids for 25 years.
Today, he is recognized as the top hybridizer of novelty Phalaenopsis in
the World. His yellow,orange and red Phalaenopsis crosses have garnered
numerous AOS awards, with two of them receiving Awards of Quality. He
will be talking on novelty Phalaenopsis and will be bringing plants to
sell.

KARSTEN WOODRICH, of Cape Town, South Africa. Karsten started growing
orchids at the age of 14. He eventually concentrated on the native
orchid species of South Africa. His book "Growing South African
Indigenous Orchids" was published in 1997. His current specialty is on
Satyriums, Bonateas, Eulophias,Stenoglottis, Disas, and some of the
epiphytic species. He will present a lecture on South African Indigenous
Orchids. He will also be selling plants.

Dr. TIM WING YAM, from Singapore. He is the Senior Research Officer in
charge of the orchid breeding program at the Singapore Botanical
Gardens, where he is concentrating on the breeding of Dendrobiums and
Vandaceous plants. Dr. Yamhas written several articles and has lectured
at the Asia Pacific Orchid Conference and at the World Orchid
Conferences. His book "Orchids of the Singapore Botanical Gardens" has
been very well received. His talk will be on the orchids at the Gardens.

Talks will be held at Holiday Inn North - Newark International Airport -
Newark, NJ

Its also a good idea to sign up as early as possible. There are free
raffle tickets given to early registrants for a blooming size division of
Bulbophyllum graveolens 'Long Island' this is one of the most beautiful of
all the bulbophyllums, that can be grown and bloomed easily in the home or
in the greenhouse. register before September 30 and receive six tickets; and
before October 30 and receive three tickets. I am a member of the JPC and
have attended this function for the last five years running. I would not
miss it for the world and in my opinion neither should you.
Great people, great talks, great food and great plants; what else can you
ask for.
