A friend of mine gave me a funny little cactus about a year ago, and
boy has it grown. (I have a picture to show you all, but don't know
how. Would be happy to email it to someone, if anyone would like to
see it. ) Since then, it has grown "arms." I believe it needs to be
transplanted, but another friend said no, that I could damage it, and
the arms would fall off. Should I actually transplant it? ignore it?
(Worked so far!) Snap the arms off, and plant those? How do I do THAT?
yeesh, I have no idea, but I really wouldn't want to kill this little
bugger. How would I transplant it without killing it? Thanks!

this user edward hnnessey He is very knowledgable about cacti and
transplanting them He gave me some advice that saved my aloe and
helped me to know how to transplant the plantlets so now I have three
aloe plants instead of one

Skyman...

What ever the cacti you have...Now is the better time to re-pot t...

Take the plant into 1 size bigger pot...I like bulb pots if your going
into 5 inch or larger....

Using the standard Cacti potting mix set the plant into it's new pot and
tamp the new soil around it firmly....No need to break up the roots but
a little fluffing will not hurt...

Now do not water for about a week...This will allow the cacti to form
scabs on anyjarred roost from the re potting...In the long run this
scalling will allow the plant to grow better new roots...

If its a prickely cactius handle with a news paper wrapped around the
plant to avoid the stickers...

I have a little collection and would like to see your plant so send a
pic if you like..

Thanks for everyone's advise! While I haven't repoted the catus yet,
but I have moved it to a better position, with better light, and it
has improved quite a bit. The funny arms are thickening up and
frankly, the whole thing looks better.. so thank you!
