There are a lot of useful things made of cactus. For example, some latin
indianers use them like needles and make threads of them. In some regions,
people eat cactuses. (very popular is fruit of Opuntia(I don't remember what
sort exactly)). One of the strongest drugs are made of Lophphora Williamsii.
And so on. If you'll like i can tell you more and more.

Some folks call the prickly pear Napolito (sp?) One way to use them is
to remove the thorns, peal the pads, dice and fry like potatoes.
they can also be used is soups. I like to soak mine a bit as they
juice is pretty slippery, kind of like okra.<G>

also, you probably already know about using Aloe Vera juice (the jelly
like substance of the inner leaf) for healing wounds, poison ivey,
fever sores, cracked lips, smoothing skin, and some use it inernally
as in internal cleanse, however i think it is a bit strong for that.
Gives some folks stomach cramps.
Lots of other uses. but this is about all i use.
