Bug control while watering?

Hey all!

My home is full of houseplants and keeping them pest free can be a
nuciance...

I was wondering, is there anything I can add when watering to help control
these pests? Aphids and spider mites seem to be the biggest issue.
Occasionally we have some tiny black flies as well.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

You can get little sticks of pesticide that you put in the pot. They are
meant to keep the plants clear of pests rather than get rid of an
infestation but might be worth a try

Spritz the plants with a diluted solution of warm water and 5% dishwashing
liquid, i.e. palmolive as in my case; every 3 days and your plants will be
rid of flies, spider mites, and aphids. I do that to all my plants when I
bring them in for the winter, mostly to the bamboo plants, as they are very
vulnerable to spider mites.

I am having the same gnat problem with all of my houseplants. Do I spritz
the whole plant or just the top of the soil they are planted in?
