Now take baseball starts for the NES..... there was a great game.
[Should I even bother to respond to this obvious flame-bait? Maybe this
is our old friend Richard Rouser under a new name or something? :-) ]
The games have gotten noticably better than the first batch. Have you
tried Zelda III, Super Mario Kart, F-Zero, Final Fantasy II, Street
Fighter 2, Axelay, etc? If not, please rent them and try them out before
you post such flames. If you have, can you seriously say that NONE of
these games appeals to you?
Maybe the whole clue to his message above is the last line which refers
to a baseball game. If this is it, you do have a point that so far no
baseball game for the SNES has been very good (or for any other system
for that matter IMHO). But you didn't complain about the lack of
quality baseball video games. You blasted *all* SNES games. Back to
English 101.

Ah, now that is an issue that I pretty much agree on. There are NO
video games out there (SNES, Genesis, TG-CD, etc.) that I am willing to
pay $60 or more for. On the other hand, I have had very good luck
buying good to great used games, both from this newsgroup and from used
video game stores. Good used SNES games tend to range $30-$35, whereas
good used Genesis games tend to range from $15-$25. The only game that
I have purchased retail was SNES Zelda III for $50 (which BTW I was
very pleased with; I was really looking forward to it, and it exceeded
my expectations). I am seriously considering buying SNES Super Mario
Kart retail for $48. That is a great game! I still love F-Zero. SMK
uses the F-Zero technology and wraps it into an even better game with 2
players, offensive weapons, and multiple game modes. Check this game out!
If you are looking only for RPG's on the SNES, it is pretty slow. Most
SNES games are action games. Coming up soon is Final Fantasy-Mystic
Quest, a 4-meg game that is targetted for possibly newer RPG player.
If you are looking for a lot of RPG's, have you considered buying a
TG-16 or Turbo-Duo. They have a lot for that system. Check out Y's I,
II, III, Cosmic Fantasy 2, and Neutopia I & II among several others
on the horizon.
I don't even bother to argue which is better SNES or Genesis, I have them both and love
them both equally. They both have there advantages/disavantages. So instead of buying the games, rent them, and with the money you save buy the other system. If you get both systems, you get the best of both worlds.

Dave, all of what you say is true, and I agree with your suggestion.
But it has nothing to do with the topic. GJames was lamenting the
quality of SNES games (or maybe just SNES baseball games, it wasn't
clear). He appears to be a SNES owner looking for better games. He
did not appear to be slamming SNES games in favor of Genesis games.
That was why I offerred my recommendations of very good SNES games.
I also own a Genesis and have a quite a few very good games for it.
Gonna have to buy a TurboDuo here pretty soon, too. :-) Later.
However, I would never buy any of these games new. I might buy axelay used.
h some type of sidewinder missles. The first level is one of the toughest. It doesn`t help that you are just getting use to the controls that they force you to manuver between some "tight" rock formations. The next 3 level are fun but fairly easy. They boss of the the lava world is the best (graphically) I have ever seen (next to the first boss in Contra 3), but easy to beat. The final stage is tough and the final boss is very tough. Just when you think you got him beat, he turns into something else and sh
oots different weapons at you. But he is beatable. The array of 7 weapons to choose from is pretty good and none of them are over powering. Some are air-air missiles while the others are air-ground bombs that do some "heavy" damage to the enemy.
I suggest that you at least rent this game if you like shooters and are good at them. If you like shooters and are just OK at them, you may need more time and want to buy this one. But with 6 continue and not having to continue at the beginning ever time you get killed, it makes it pretty easy to finish. As yes, one last note, some hits that you take from enemy fire destroy just your armed main weapon instead of your whole ship, so in effect (if you are good/luck), you could have up to 4 lives for each m
an!
OF course Konami has done another superior job on the graphics and the sound of this one (as in the past) and I look forward to playing thier other titles.
Nathan
Are you for real???? What are you on? This must be a piss-take.
I have 4 games for my SNES, and here's what I think of them:
Super MarioWorld - Miles better than any other platform type game I've ever played, although still too easy. Better than any Megadrive platform games I've owned by a mile.
F-Zero - Absolutely amazing. Brilliant gameplay, AMAZING graphics (about a million times better than ANY Megadrive racer is or could be). The battery backed-up track times make the game about 100 times more interesting though. I love it!
Street Fighter 2 - Worth buying a SNES for on its own. I've had it for about 3 months now, and I have spent HOURS playing it just this week. It's just so addictive, and even better in 2-player mode. In my opinion : The best game EVER.
Super Smash TV - Good for about 2 weeks until I completed it in turbo mode. Haven't played it since. A waste of cash really, but it was really good fun to begin with.
I suspect the guy who wrote the above letter was on a bit of a chin-spin. He probably owns a Megadrive/Genesis, and not a SNES at all.

What country have you been living in, Nathan? :-) The only game that I
recommended above that was from the "first batch" of SNES games was F-Zero.
A fair amount later came FF2, another couple of months later came Zelda III.
SF2 came out a couple of months ago. Axelay last month. And Mario Kart
this month.
Others on the net have said that Super Star Wars is excellent. I saw parts
of MechWarrior (for SNES) and was very impressed. It's not finished yet
though. Lots of people enjoyed Bart's Nightmare (SNES). Same goes for
On The Ball. Sorry, no suggestions for good new RPG's for either system,
but you may want to check out the RPG's on the TurboDuo.
